Pocket Ferro Rod with Fat Wood Handle

$25.00

This is a small ferrocerium rod for starting fires. What sets this one apart is that it has its own source of tinder! Sized to fit easy in a pocket, this little kit can be on you at all times.

The ferro rod is mounted to a section of resin-saturated wood — also known as fatwood, lighter knot, or pine knot. Fatwood is known for its long burn time and resistance to water. With a bit of fatwood on hand, your ability to create a fire is all but certain.

The rod comes on a length of tarred bank line that also holds a section of hacksaw blade.

Use the teeth of the blade to saw or scrape a pile of fatwood shavings into a pile. Then use the back of the hack saw blade to strike 3000 degree sparks into the fatwood. And there you have it: fire!

Total length: 110mm
