The Transmutative Hat Trick

A magic-themed automaton by Dug North

Here is what the piece looked like once completed.

I added a brass curtain rod and velvet curtain to the front so that the mechanism could be hidden during a "performance" of the magic trick.

The trick involves the magician reaching into his top hat and pulling out different times. In one variation of the trick, a bottle filled with a colored liquid is shown. With every cycle the color of the liquid changes.

In another varion of the trick, objects within a jar are transformed into various other things: cards, dice, a spider, etc.
