Halloween Top Hat Automaton - VideoA contemporary automaton by Dug North Here are some links to a short video clip of the original Halloween top hat in action. The one in MAKE magazine is slightly smaller. I am operating the hand lever with one hand off-camera. The little monster is suprisingly expressive depending on how you operate the lever. If you squeeze the lever quickly, the monster seems aggressive. If you squeeze it slowly, then release it quickly, the monster appears to be shy.
