Halloween Top Hat Automaton in MAKE Magazine

Here is the cover of the first-ever MAKE magazine Halloween special edition.

There are two different covers of this issue -- the one you see here and an illustrated one. The illustrated covers is done in a great retro style. The mad scientist on the cover is wearing a top hat. I like to think this is a reference to my article

My article in on page 54 and spans three pages with several photos. I was held to a word limit so it is very to-the-point. It's all there though; anyone who likes to make things (especially mechanical things) should be able to make their own surprise top hat.
